Northrop Genealogy ~ ~ ~ Southport, Connecticut

Family - Direct Ancestors - The known world

dad's notes show Mildred Northrop 1902-1902 perhaps dau of Frederic Elmore?

Was Marjorie Northrop Rutili a daughter of Frederick Elmore? (mom's notes)

Alvin JNorthrop b.10/19/1905 in South Norwalk

Margaret Ives Northrop b Jan 1, 1907

Mary Keeler Northrop b. 10/19/1909 m Ernest Leonard Billings

My quest has been to find some missing connections. There are no absolutely obvious connections for Amos Northrop or for Rachel Ives. In the Northrop/Northrop published volume, they are listed as "unconnected families"

Amos and Rachel

Another undocumented connection is Margaret Hannigan or Harrigan.

Sarah Wakeman Alvord Northrop and alvin Northrop are buried in greens farms cemetery per mom's notes.

This home at 170 Pequot Avenue, Southport, Connecticut is a recently restored example of the Northrop Brothers fine carpentry and building in the Southport-Greeens Farms area. It was framed during the Blizzard of 1888 (mom's notes). 156 Pequot Avenue was built in 1887. Mom's notes say to check Nichols house perhaps the other side of 156??

The land on which the 3 (or more?) houses were built was in George Elmore's name and prior to that in the name of N H. Alvord. Sarah's brother Nelson owned a large carriage building business. He sold some time prior to the building of the NYNY & Hartford RR line in Southport. Mom's notes some maps (Fairfield Town Hall) indicate he owned quite a bit of land in Southport which became the NYNH&H Railroad property.
